Our children face  new and diverse challenges daily. It is important to offer children and adolescents the support and encouragement they need. Life in Balance Therapy offers a  therapeutic environment and treatment interventions  that are specific to children and adolescents. These may include but are not limited to:  play therapy,  art therapy, games, Mindfulness-based strategies, behavioral plans and interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, talk therapy, and parental coaching.

Play Therapy

Children learn so much about their world through activities and play, so It stands to reason that play is an effective therapy with children.

Research has shown that play therapy is an excellent mode of therapy with children. Children more readily work out their problems indirectly through play. Additionally, young children with limited vocabularies lack the ability to understand the complex themes that adults may talk about in therapy.

Play therapy can help children to regulate their emotions, to share,  and to make choices, During play therapy, a number of issues can be addressed such as trauma, depression, anxiety, grief depression and loss, aggression, and empathy.

Trauma

Children can and do experience trauma. Childhood trauma may be caused numerous factors such as exposure to domestic violence, violence at school, contentious divorces, living with parents who abuse substances or who are mentally ill. In the treatment of children who have experienced trauma, 'Life in Balance Therapy' may utilize play therapy, art therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and a variety of interventions designed to give children back their power in a safe and supportive environment .
